It was our anniversary and we just relaxed and enjoyed our stay
The food at the restaurant was good, staff pleasant, service slow even at a low capacity but I guess when you go to the country side better get used to it.. Complimentary cookies and hot apple cider was a nice touch in the middle of the afternoon. Peanut butter cookies not my favorite, but they were fresh, and this can be consider a personal preference why not sugar cookies or chocolate chip cookies, perhaps it will have a broader appeal. I chose this hotel for the convenience of being at the same place as were a private event I was attencing was taking place. Also it was the best rate compared to Green Mountain hotel right on main street in town.
I thought the hotel needs to get a lift/ update, especially the red carpet throughout the entrance and upstairs. Gave me the impression of being in an old funeral parlor. Lighting on the main lobby/seating area was very dimmed. Room size was tight. Pillows in the bedroom not plush. Lock in bedroom 21 has problems, you have to maneuver quite a bit to lock it. The room doesn't even offer a table where you can sit a cup of coffee or cookies. I did not find the room charming, Wall paper in the bedroom is very tired to say the least. Perhaps most people staying here go skiing and basically just use the hotel to crash at night. All the beer jars & accesories hanging on the ceiling needs to be dusted free.
How comfortable the beds were, we slept like royalty.
As soon as we arrived we were starving so we went to the restaurant and waited about 25 mins to be seated but no one was there so we left. All the waitstaff saw us but seemed to busy to stop.
within walking distance to centre of stowe and near good restaurants We had a nice view from the window
they did not have our booking even when given the confirmation print out.Every thing was so psuedo english. the noise from the main road was continuous.
room was good - apart from a plumbing problem. Hotel and facilities are fine, although staff a bit off-hand
restaurant - service was poor / non existent ( I waited an hour for food to arrive - when it did arrive it wasn't what I ordered) Also significantly overpriced.
Great location, excellent range of beers & wines in bar / restaurant, friendly service.
Strange smell in corridor!
The only thing I did like was the expresso martini the bartender made.
Would not recommend or stay there again. Had troubles with room temperature- took 3 separate occasions to fix. Room is small, outdated. Hallway smelled- we kept complaining of odor, but nothing was done about it. Most disgustingly, we had bugs in room. I saw a big centepede looking bug scurry across carpet and into hall-I screamed for housekeeper-she said "oh bugs have to live somewhere too!"
Everything we wanted was in the Inne and main street Stowe was walking distance, crucial as we were only there one day.
The Ye olde England Inne is just as the name describes, it is a typical English Inn. The hotel staff are great and very helpful. The facilities are decent. There is a pool and hot tub niether of which we used due to the weather. The pub is excellent serving great regional and international beer. The restaurant is nice and serves excellent meals. The Inn is an excellent location. The motorway is near by as are the attractions such as Mt Mansfield and ben and Jerry's factory. There are some very nice restaurants within 10 minutes driving distance from the hotel.
The only think about this Inn is that the room we had was dated. It wasnt the most expensive hotel in stowe but I expected something slightly more updated. Also we had no airconditioning as it had been taken out, as it was september it was ok but in summer I can imagine it being very uncomfortable. Also there is no lift in the main Inn so could be difficult if you have lots of luggage.
Wonderful Inn owner, incredibly friendly and welcoming. Very pretty, quaint, inviting Inn with comfortable rooms. Restaurant is wonderful, as is the bar.
The restaurant was ok.
The Inne is very run down. The sheet rock on a wall of the bathroom was down showing exposed brick which they just painted over. The bathroom door was warped so I guess they had a flood there. The bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable. Everything was threadbear and the furniture all full of knicks and scrapes. The staff was very unhelpful. We asked directions to a local waterfalls and a clerk said he never heard of it. They didn't have maps of the local attractions. When we went into the stores of town there were maps everywhere and they showed the falls we were looking for. Our room was on the third floor . There was no elevator and no one to help us with our bags.
We have been to the Stowe car show many times over the years and we love the Inne's Location. We've had many good dinners there so we gave it a try.We checked in a little early no issues .We were able to sit on the deck and watch the antique car parade it was fun. Our bed was comfy not alot of noise from other rooms. Our dinner was wonderful our waiter was funny and knowledgable of the specials and of the many brew selections available. The evening service was a complete contrast to the afternoon chaos.
We (paid for) a room with a deck ..no deck more like a walkway with 2 plastic chairs that were sad looking next to sliding doors to a different room..odd.Our room was split level which was ok but the tub was a "sunken" type & the shower was down in there also odd. There were hairs in the bathtub as well as a ring around the drain of crudd. We did not use that amenity. The wall oposite the toilet/ vanity had a stain of some sort (vomit?) on it that blended in with the strange choice of wall treatment in there so well it was still there yuck. The dust on the night stand was so thick I wrote dust me in it with a q tip..The blinds were grossly dusty, and the windows were filthy behind the blinds. The afternoon Restaurant staff was a comedy of errors. We walked in from our room to be immediately seated on the deck. We waited 10 minutes for water but we were entertained by the waitstaff who kept forgetting other tables orders bringing the wrong drinks or ingoring one table for so long they left.We stayed because in the past our dinner experiences had been terrific and we had booked a room there so we would not have to drive. We were waited on by "Red" who was not totally a great waiter but seemed nice enough. They kept running out of the beer we were drinking a Von Trapp Ale that was great. We each had 3 and they ran out of each type so we had 3 different types not what we would have liked.,I'd have thought they would have expected a large crowd and ordered apprpriately. People were smoking by the entrance during the parade and the smoke was wafting onto the deck but it was the owner so it was ok I guess. The back stairs to our room were a little too rustic could use some paint and tlc the Hot tub cover was so dirty we were afraid to touch it.There were a pair of old shoes on it that looked like they had been there awhile .For the price I expected a little more and would have been easily satisfied if I had paid 1/2 what we did.
The staff was extremely nice, smiles on their faces, engaging.
- When asked for recommendations about things to do such as restaurants to eat at, the staff was surprising not helpful at all. Advice such as, "you can eat at our restaurant" is not helpful. - we didn't find the rooms very comfortable for the price. And there were only double beds available? Are there any Queen or King sized beds available for a married couple? - The food was disappointing. Except for the Buffalo Wings, the tuna tartare was not good (tuna of mediocre quality, the combination of teriyaki sauce and pineapple mixed with capers was odd. As well, the soup was served luke-warm and the salad was lacking.)
Location is great and they have an amazing pool (these are the only pros)
The room was overpriced for the confort it offered. Rustic style but small room overall, squiky bed, old TV (the remote did not even have functional batteries). For $180/night, I believe at least breakfast should've been included. Also, I got a nasty, itchy bite on my leg while sleeping.
The suite we stayed in was spacious and comfortable. Nice views. Close to shopping. Nice breakfast across the street.
Difficult to get bags up the the 8th floor. No storage or shelf in the bathroom. Need a table or shelf near the sink. The first day, our dirty linens were never removed and our bed was not made? We used the coffee maker and the cups were not cleaned or replaced and the coffee pot was not emptied or cleaned? The bed banged up against the wall, when we were busy. The headboard and footboard need to bed attached tightly to the bed frame. The breakfast was not very good and I didn't realize until check out, it was an extra $19.00 a day? We ate there only one day.
